K-N9 Junior School

Your training journey continues. Just like with human children, our dogs go through that dreaded period of social development that strikes fear in the hearts of all parents – Adolescence. This is a period where individuals will test boundaries and assert their independence. This is also the period when many dog owners give up, and many dogs end up at the shelter. People forget that this is a frustrating phase that their dog will eventually grow out of. Adolescence is an essential part of growing up, a period for developing the skills necessary to survive, and thrive, in the adult world.

The Teenage Phase is a normal developmental stage that every dog goes through. Challenges occur that are as predictable just like in Puppyhood BUT become more complex which in turn provides an opportunity to work on that relationship with our dogs.

Team work makes the dream work!
Both Handlers and Dogs need to learn, understand and trust each other and communicate effectively to reach their full potential and create a relationship that stands the test of time.

By Week 4 every teenager and handler has been given the tools for a trusting and engaging relationship with each other. Recalls are built on that trust to come when called, add a tunnel to build confidence and independence and the results speak for themselves.
